Disrespect is possibly passed from generation to generation. Someone doesn't like someone else for their beliefs and that's passed to the next and the next. Some folks don't like what some people look like so they develop an attitude towards that type of person and stereotypes are started that way. Or it could be the I'm better then you syndrome. My race is better then yours and we'll prove it by killing yours off. That's just stupid but it happens. See there's no innuendo in this question, and it's very thought provoking. Excellent question.

You earn it when one deserves it, by recognition, understanding and open communication.Sadly we live in a world where it is the 'me-me-me' theory, there is no balance when there should be, Y!A!, is a classic example of that, which is why I believe the thumbs up and down feature should be abolished, that's my take on it to answer your question- not sure if this will ease your mind though, these are just based on experience.

I know what you mean. It seems that more and more people aren't considerate of others. Just some common courtesy and respecting other people as human beings would go a long way in curing the world of so much hate.

Yes, exactly. I mean people are so interested in sex and cussing, it's like they were made for it. I get enough respect, but when people don't I feel so terrible! I think people should confess their sins and become happier, over time. Otherwise the world truly will end.

Your world should be the only world that matters to you. If you do what you are suppose to and treat people the way you want to be treated then ur good. If you spend your time and energy worrying about why people are the way they are you'll miss the boat. just be who you are and let the rest take care of itself.

Just as it is hard to give respect, it's hard to get it.

It's a two way street..if you give it, you have a chance of getting it.

However, lifes not too fair all the time...you may give it out all the time but not get as much respect in return

You don't get respect
you earn respect

more and more people do not want to ear respect from there peers. They want to get along or be just like the peers.

I feel that we are getting very materialistic society, where only money, profits & personal interest matters. Maybe we are failing our kids not teching them proper values as we are too busy buying them ipods, fancy PC's etc., ectc.
