whats the difference width and length? are they noticable and significant? if my feet just fit widthwise on a size 10 would a size 9 be pushing it?

There is no significant difference in the width from size 9 to 9.5 to 10. The difference is in the length.

It depends on the shoe. If your foot in 10 inches long and wide, or 8 inches long but 10 inches wide. The shoe could be cross-country, running, basketball, walking or if you have a high instep, all varies in shoe size. I hope that this helped you.

I think it's an inch of a difference between 9 and 10, but I could be wrong

Yes it would be pushing it! If your feet are crunched up in a kshoe thats too small for you your toe nails will bleed because they arebeing forced to be stuffed in a small shoe !
