get back to discussing politics? were we ever there?
people don't like to be challenged in their worldveiws. While they may inflame, they boost the ego of the person asking the question, and those people who agree with what's being said. Now, there is the occasional good question in here, the occasional question from somebody who honestly wants information, but they're equalled or surpassed by idiotic one line attacks that make no logical sense. (like 'are liberals reterdad? they hate america' or (why do conservitives hate people who've never done anything to them')
I would welcome an honest and thoughtful debate. However, there are many on both side who just want to get a cheap shot in, no matter how serious the question.

I honestly don't know. The only people who seem to ask questions are people who just want to cause trouble. It's getting very tiring.
I think that those of us who want serious political debates should start asking questions, so that we can (hopefully) drown out those users who often cover this area of Answers with garbage. We also need to stop answering these peoples questions when they post them, however foolish and insulting they may be. Also, if they're incredibly insulting (like those that compare a certain political party to terrorists) they should be immediately reported for "insulting".
Let's hope these steps can turn this site in the right direction.

It seems to be in the human equation that negativity and hate become progressive and feed on themselves. The key is for everyone to ignore the flamers, even though they get under your skin with their perversity. If we can't do that, then just laugh at them, kind of like Steven Colbert.

All of the questions are important to someone, its the name calling, sexual preferences, and vulgarity we could do without. Although some of it is funny after a while it becomes ridiculous!
