I agree with you, we should bring back hanging or the cat o nine tails, that would teach them. I just cannot understand it since I have been growing up of how many murders you read about these days. Years ago a murder was serious news and everyone used to be so shocked, a murder these days is like playing the lottery, no one bats an eye lid to the news of a murder.

I understand how you feel, but doesn't it just repeat the crime. Somebody actually has a job that involves killing people in cold blood. What sort of person can do that? Also, we would already have executed innocent people in the recent past. At least, not proven guilty. I think that, if life meant life in jail, most prisoners would prefer to be executed. I don't think, so called paedophilia, should become confused with murder. Separate issues: technically, it could include an eighteen year old having sex with a fifteen year old, even with consent. Also, when women do it, the boys don't complain, because they don't usually see themselves as victims, and they would hardly ever report it. 'An eye for an eye, leaves the whole world blind'. Sorry, just another, perhaps controversial, view on the matter.

Hanging is very final and irreversible. It is barbaric and not what a civilised society should do in this day and age. I like many others would like a strong punishment for murderers but am not sure capital punishment is the right answer. The other reason is that sometimes other evidence is discovered later that proves the perpetrator is innocent, then of course it is too late if hanging has taken place. I think a tough regime of hard labour perhaps and no reprieve or early discharge is in fact worse for the villain. To see him suffer is surely worse as long as we stick to the sentence. This also keeps him away from the public and out of harms way.

If people weren't known as being so dangerous, maybe vigilanteism wouldn't be so awful. It doesn't have anything to do with hanging them, but the system can be beaten or even bought out. I don't know what the worlds coming to when any kind of sex offender or murderer can even be released on bail. Whatever happened to being guilty as charged? I don't feel sorry a bit for these people that rape and murder people. They ought to have public hangings, castrations, or what the hell; burn'em at the stake in the middle of town square for all I care. I'd come and say a prayer for the man that starts the fire. There should be no remorce for these people, and their shouldn't be any discrepancy in letting it be publically known of what this man has done and the fate he's partaken to. Don't tell me kids don't need to see these images. These are the kids that will grow up to protect us in our old age. They deserve the utmost of educations.

I say bring back hanging ! Some criminals are caught with evidence that is irrefutable, in cases such as these the offenders should be put to death. How many times have we heard this would be against their HUMAN RIGHTS, what aload of BO***CKS. What human rights do the victims have when they are being SHOT,STABBED,STRANGLED,RAPED then left to rot in a field or river. The people who shout it would be wrong to bring it back should try to imagine what it would be like if THEY or a FAMILY MEMBER were that victim. They say once a smoker always a smoker, i say once a murderer always a murderer. The government would never dare put this one to the vote just in case the public decided they wanted it back.

wot happened to the old saying an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth....
i think we should bring hanging back or at least when the judge says life it blooming means life
also with all this dna techniques etc we can now get the correct man/woman as forensic evidence has improved a lot
not only that if we boriught hanging back it might stop the people from commiting crimes in 1st place cos at the moment they know the most they will be given is life imprisonment with say min 10yrs to b served and in that time they could b plotting their next revenge..
even better still bring back electrocution that will def make people think
i know they both barbaric methods but at least crime rate was extremely low

I feel that the vast majority of paedophiles, rapists and other assorted worthless gutterscum are simply not fit to be scraped from the bottom of someone's shoe. Some are mentally ill and need treatment, but the rest? Hanging's too good for 'em in my opinion. I'm not saying it's a good attitude to have at all. It's just how I feel, like it or not.
I wouldn't shed any tears for seeing these lowlifes swing. What happens, though, if you get the wrong person and they're actually innocent?

Probably because the man who 'could' bring it back is worried that HE could be charged with treason after the way HE has sold this country out........and doesn't want to be the first on the gallows.......But it is okay for him to meddle in other countries affairs and get someone who ruled a country 'with half the amount of innocent deaths as the coalition' put in the noose!!!!!somehow in his twisted mind that makes him a hero and NOT a villain!!!!!

Very touchy issue, although I believe some criminals should have more harsh punishments hanging in inhumane. Yes what some criminals do is inhumane as well but that's why Texas has a good death penalty. We practically have an express lane. If you want to make a change, care read on who you vote for. If you don't vote then you should start. Politicians are the one's who work for us. If you don't like them or you don't like how your state is run blame it on your represenatives and city councilmen.

For terrorists, murders, paedophiles and other repeat offences.
They have had it easy for too long.
I do not agree that hanging for such offences is not civilised.
Being civilised means protecting the innocent and punishing the guilty.
