COMBAT! the 1960's TV series?

What is it about that show? I love watching those old reruns on TV. The show even looks a little "corny" to me but I love watching anyway. The Germans stand up & let everyone have a clear shot at them while Saunders is near invincible.
I think that the black and white episodes are better than the color used in the last season of the show.
