Offer to pay them back = "make restitution."

Lola is wrong on a couple of major points. This crime is not necessrily a felony, nor is it Federal. Whether or not it is a felony depends on how much the check was written for, and more importantly, whether it was stolen and filled out by you, or was really "just found." If this is a 1st offense and you really found it, you could get slapped with only a Class A misdemeanor and get off with community service and probation. The charge would be "Theft by Check." If it's stolen, though, and you;ve done this type of crime before, you could be looking at Felony Check Fraud and do anywhere from a 1-5 years.

Your friend committed a felony. A very serious charge. She stole a check and cashed it without permission. That's a violation of federal law. I think the criminal charges are coming from the bank, not from the victims here. Some crimes are against society rather than against a person, even though this seems to be against a person, it isn't. It's a crime against the bank, which is a federal offense. Those charges aren't going to go away. Let this be a lesson for both of you. Never take what doesn't belong to you.

Pay the people with interest. And never never do such a thing again. (I hope it wasn't hundreds of dollars! or more!)
Why would she do such a thing anyway? Doesn't she know that there are cameras all over the place in banks?)
(umm - doubt they will drop the charges, but when you go to court, have cash ready)

General population in jail, just like everybody else! If convicted ... probably a medium security prison with other violent offenders.

They would be the ones to report the check as fraudulent; they people might cover for her and not press charges if she talked to them about it and paid back the money.
Personally I think this is a bad idea; if she gets off, she'll end up committing more fraud. If she gets caught, she might not do it again.

Oh, and you believe this? She just "happened" to find a blank check? One with everything except the recipient? Story sounds fishy to me.

Yep, and I hope "she" (you, presumably) and I am glad that "she" will." You" broke the law, and stole people's money, and I'm sure that the people will want to see "you" prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

"You" are disgusting. I'd love to see you rot in prison.

Have fun in prison, Mandy. You broke the law.
