Guess I posted in the wrong spot. I use an ovulation test every month. I had sex and 24hrs later it detected my LH surge. Are my chances high of pregnancy now ? How long does sperm live inside the uterus ? Is 5 days a myth to scare teens from having unprotected sex ? Please Help !

What I know is that the male sperm travel faster than the female. The male sperm die faster than the female ones. I believe the female sperm last for about 3 days and the male are about 24 to 35 hours, so I'm told.

Hope this helps.

This is what I've always heard: The Male Sperm is faster but not as strong, The Female Sperm is Slower but Strong. So the Male Sperm Dies a lot faster than the Female sperm that is why people wanting to concieve a girl will start having sex a day before they ovulate. So to answer your question I do not think it is as high as 5 days More like 3 days tops. Good Luck.

Your chances of pregnancy are high. It takes about ten hours for the sperm to reach the tube...the egg, once released, stays for 24 hours. Sperm CAN live up to five days in a non-hostile environment in a woman who doesn't have antibodies to them. It is not a myth to scare teens from having unprotected sex.

yes that's a good time i was always told sperm lives inside you for 48 hours and your ovulation at 24 hours , no ovulation test is going to give you a 100% pregnancy but good luck

No one can tell you for sure when you ovulate.
The best thing to do is learn how to chart your ovulation.
Don't listen to the people that say ovulation happens on the _ day because everyone's ovulation time is different depending on your period cycle and things like that.
I would suggest reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler.
Hope this helped.
