Dukeofmud--if you are going to use large words please check that you spell them correctly. I wouldn't usually say anything, but you have only used one word and it is used in an attempt to insult me.

Heathen-- Why do you refer to a subject that you cannot possibly grasp?

SARAHBEAN--In the slim hope that you check to see if your reply has been answered: "try studying Plato, Socrates...."
Well i guess you realise your error? It is impossible for either you or "I" to study Socrates as all we know of him are through the writings of Plato. Try studying less and you may be able to think for yourself. Try studying something that doesn't require much thought. Certainly, you should not choose philosophy as a career path. You need to waken up a little.

MEXICANSEAFOOD-----What a pile of s*it.
If i were to start picking holes in your words, i would be here all day(which, by the way, i dont). "seriously get a life"--I have one. I have a 2yo daughter and an 8 mnth pregnant partner. I also study(which includes reading)-- "read a philosophy book yourself"--ow. "sad fool"--What? "you asked for it"--Get a grip. "Merely to feel superior"--Again,what? "Down-fall....when the day comes"--'Seriously', maybe you watch too much TV and maybe you should read more (non-fiction) "You asked a question, let them answer it"-- What like you didn't. "to answer your question;(this SHOULD be a colon) read john lockes book......"-- Again you cannot answer the question in your own words or even the words of Locke? As usual--rubbish. Where are your thoughts? Is this why you resort to such Idiocy? You have no thoughts of your own and this is why you are so annoyed by what i write. I don't claim to be anything, you do that for me.And you won't reply to this!!!!

MEXICANSEAFOOD---Why won't you reply? Because all you would be able to reply with is more insult( which really doesn't bother me, although i would like you to at least think for yourself, rather than be told by someone else or read what you think). So where is YOUR answer? Please note that some individuals enjoy my questions and some think(there is a good word) they are not to be answered but pondered. Why don't you ponder? You do not know what i am trying to say, you just think you do. It is quite annoying that you don't accept e-mail (note that i do) as i have no way of gaining your knowledge. I feel deprived.

MEXICANSEAFOOD--Yeah, you are good. From where do you get your thoughts? Dissertation-- I can grasp this, can you? Why do you take time out of your writing to TRY and pick holes in my words when you don't have the foggiest of what i think? Why do you assume that you know what i am thinking? I know a lot of people enjoy thinking on their own about the questions these words raise and a few (like yourself) reply negatively. I don't care, why do you. Sort your grammar out before you complete your 16,000 words, that you get from anywhere other than your own thoughts. I am sure that a few people will read your dissertation and see nothing that they haven't seen before.
I do wonder how old you are and how much has been spent on your 'education' and if it was actually your choice to study or you felt forced into it.
Why don't you understand that i really don't have any time for your words as they seem aggravated, possibly to do with you struggling to write 16,000 words all on your own?

MEXICANSEAFOOD--I forgot to say that i changed my mind about you reading too much due to your dramatic thoughts concerning my "downfall" that came straight from hollywood.
P.S. As for saying i would pick holes in your words: i meant all of them when i said i would be here all day(i chose a select few).
How did you get so far with such bad grammar? Oh yeah, it was paid for.You see, where i come from, education is free if you have ability. How can you expect anyone to understand you when you can't write?
P.P.S.-- I notice that you had time to make an 'avatar'. This gives me an idea of how you see your 'self'. Maybe you should take a closer look and see your self in yourself rather than hiding behind an image that you have created for yourself in order to be accepted by your fellow man. My partner put my photo on here, not I (or me?)Hmm there is a grammatical puzzle for you.
On philosophy not being for me---You have even stole MY words to Sarahbean in an attempt to insult me. Good.

MEXICANSEAFOOD-- You are personally glad that you are not as "dumb" as me and not convinced of your own, get this-"supperiority"-well that is just 'supper'.
In saying these things, on a break from your ingenius dissertation, you all but admit that you are 'dumb'( just not as dumb as me). Also, you assume that i feel superior, not my words, but your own? (Nah can't be?)
You use a little drama that you create to make yourself feel good. Trying to make someone else feel bad is your way of 'stealing energy', as an expedient to making yourself feel good. Drama, that is all it is. I am sorry but it doesn't work. I really don't care what you think and you could never make me feel weakened with your pitiful words. Why do you care so much about what i say? Why do you take time out of your schedule, just to try and inflict your own misery on others? I don't care. Do you get it? I will always smile at your verbal spewtum.

A sad fool who spends the majority of his time posing questions he himself can't answer, merely to feel superior. Then, once people start giving you proper answers to it, get's all upset that you can't think to that degree. Seriously, get a life.
By the way, you asked for this, posing the question Who am 'I'? It just leaves you open to public dressings down. Now are you going to stop talking about things you obviously know nothing about, or are you just going to prolong your inevitable down-fall when the day comes that you actually realise you know considerably less than you're willing to admit?
To answer your question; read John Locke's book "An Essay Concerning Human Understanding" (1690) That's a good enough reply to your question, Who am 'I'?
Oh wait, did i refer you to a book. Oh dear, I'd better get my head out of books. Don't want to become a robot & not think for myself.
I've got a bold idea, read a philosophy book yourself. You'll start top realise just how stupid most of yor qestions end up being. Then, once yo actually realise what philosophy is, post a question that people can actually discuss without the inevitable 'edit' dressing down you give them after your questions. After all, you asked a question, let them answer it.
Edit: You're funny. When someone doesn't reply straight away, you assume it's because you've beaten them into submission.
For you're information, not that I see any reason why it's any of your business, I was busy working on my Dissertation, something you seem to be unable to grasp. Some people do in fact spend time outside of Yahoo answers, doing thing that are infinately more productive. It's seems the only real argument you have against me is my grammar (my God, i may, & i really mean may, have placed a colon in the worng place, but to be honest, it isn't grammatically incorrect)
Also, how can I watch too much TV, and have my head almost constantly in books....? interesting.
Finally, I love how you start it off, if i were to pick holes in your argument..., & then proceed to. nice. seesm you really don't have a life.
Anyway, I'm off to do things more important than point out how idiotic you are.
Take care Dipshit.
x
ps. My argument of all arguments; you should leave yahoo answers & never return. Why? Because your overuse of Edit's annoys me, & just about everybody else. Plus, if you honestly can't drag yourself away from yahoo answers, avoid philosophy at all costs. Philo-sophi. Love of wisdom. You really lack wisdom....
pps. Wow, I just reread your post again. You really are convinced that your a genius when it comes to Philosophy... I'm angry I can't think to your level.... no dude, I'm angry I didn't write the Gettier Counter-examples. I'm personally glad that I'm not a) as dumb as you & b) convinced of my own supperiority. Not once have I claimed to know all. I just know I know more than you. This isn't ego. It's the fact that everyobdo who ever, ever answers your questions goes "eh?" or "You're a dumbass". Even those who attempt to answer your questions, soon regret it after you go edit mental & cahnge the entire context of your question. So screw it, I don't care anymore. Post all the bullshit you want, it won't change the fact that a) your nowhere near as smart as you think & b) You're more childish when it comes to arguing than I would expect a person of your age.

It was Rene Descartes who said "Je pense, donc je suis" I think therefore I am.
Because you are questioning you can be absolutely sure that you exist. That is the only certainty you have.
It's not a lot to go on. Just try to enjoy yourself and not worry about it.:-)

An immaginary number!???????????????
Contrary to what some people might tell you, imaginary numbers are not numbers that only exist in the brains of weird people. Or maybe they are; all numbers in math are "imaginary" in the sense that you can't touch them or experience them directly.
But this is not what people mean when they talk about imaginary numbers. Imaginary numbers are numbers that can be written as a real number times i.???????????????
Intelligence?

"You" are too deep for "me". My belief is that there is just one big soul and I am part of that. It's like a leg is a part of a body but it's still a leg. The body wouldn't be complete without it tho', and therein lies my comfort. So, you are me and I am you and we are everybody.
