It depends on which side of the fence you're on. For a teacher, I think communication is the KEY skill to master because you have to be able to effectively relay information to students in order to teach.
But from a student's perspective, the most important skill here would be study skills. Student need to be able to effectively manage their time and learn how best to study and succeed.

I think the most important skill anyone should learn is ... learning to see things from other people's perspectives. It is so much easier to compromise and communicate when one can understand where the other person is coming from.
Because "no man is an island" we have to learn to get along, and this is the basic skill that allows for peaceful compromise.

I dont think that you should only master one skill. I think you should be well balanced in many. What good is one skill when you can't do anything else?
