Thats funny, because I was thinking of asking a question very similiar to this. I dont smoke weed, I never have in my life....But I still think they should make it legal. as to the person who said 'weed kills', alcohol and cigarettes kill too, but you know why those are legal, and not weed? because weed is so easily grown that the government wouldnt make any money on it. They make more money by having it illegal so they can fine the people who have it. If an adult wants to smoke weed, let them. The same way we let them drink, and smoke. Its their body.

If we got rid of everything that wasnt good for us, that'd be the end of alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, fast food places, candy, chocolate, potato chips, all junk food in general, tanning salons, the sun, cars, most television, most movies, etc,....etc....etc. Where do we draw the line?

People who preach that it's so bad for you are hypocrites because I'm sure everything they put in their bodies, or use on a daily basis, ISNT always good for them. Sure its bad if people smoke in excess , but what isnt bad when used in excess, theres a limit for everything, marijuana included. If you dont like it, dont use it. I havent, but It doesnt bother me when others want to.

Legalize weed would decrease the burden of police (who must arrest people for it) and make being in a gang less lucrative. This would be at the cost of increased weed usage (prob. about 25%), with its attendant social cost and medical cost increase. From a money standpoint, it saves money overall to keep it illegal. Make tobacco or alcohol illegal wouldn't pass congress and couldn't be enforced. Too many people are addicted to the things and MUST have them, and many others will feel the law is unjust and simply not follow it. By the way, some of the most poisonous substances known to man are plant-derived, so I wouldn't hold to the "plant product = good" theory too strongly. Eat this plant and die! for many plants. But this is my opinion.

First, you should read the history of the marijuana laws at http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/History/whiteb1.htm It is funny, fascinating, and surprising.

The reasons that marijuana was outlawed in the first place are:
1) racial prejudice against Mexicans
2) The fear that heroin addiction would lead to the use of marijuana - exactly the opposite of the modern gateway myth.

The US Official Expert on marijuana testified in court, under oath, that marijuana would make your incisors grow six inches long and drip with blood.

You can find further info on why marijuana was outlawed at http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/Library/mj_outlawed.htm

Then you should take a look at http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/Library/studies/studies.htm This is a collection of the full text of most of the major government commission reports on the subject over the last 100 years. They all said the marijuana laws were based on ignorance and nonsense. They all said that marijuana should be legalized.

If you want to understand the subject of other drugs and the laws, the one book to read is the Consumers Union Report on Licit and Illicit Drugs at http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/Library/studies/cu/cumenu.htm

Most people who answer these questions really don't have a clue what they are talking about. Read the above items and you will see what I mean.

ignorance has paved the way for many of our cultures attitudes.happy children do not make good solders.less people would freeze on the open road, but there would be a lot more out there cause they would be lost.it helps with seasickness too.George Washington and Tomas Jefferson both had very large Hemp plantations.,and the got to be presidents.

why not? Like alcohol which is legal, some people can handle it and some give it a bad name. Wait...what was the question?? LOL. Make alcohol illegal, since that is a gateway to drugs too.

I don't do it, but I see no problem with it. You get impaired, just as you would with alcohol. Our jails are being filled up with persons who use this minor drugs, we could be using the jail space for serious offenders. Make it legal.

weed destroys brain cells. you become an idiot if you do too much. alchol isn't bad if you dont' drink too much. the reason america made weed illegal was because in the 1920s-1930's deaths were related to murders, rapes, etc. it makes you do stupid things.
