Babelfish.com is good in most cases... as long as the sentences are very simple. I use it a lot for Spanish/English translation and my experience has been that it can't handle (in English) most contractions... it often fails to recognize simple worlds like "I'm" and "you're".
This is true in Spanish and probably applies for French as well since they're both Latin-based - if you every try to translate from French to English, beware any French words where the pronouns are attached to the verb. In Spanish, these can be as simple as "hablame" (talk to me), and Babelfish usually does not recognize them. (Though it understands the Italian "parlami", and I don't get that...)
You didn't say for what purpose you want to translate into French, so I will say as a general rule that Babelfish works if you keep it simple and avoid contractions like "I'm".
