My old girlfriend used to say that the well off people almost always looked better than there poorer neighbors. By this she didn't just mean clothes, vehicles, etc. she said that they just had a better physical appearance. I told her this was probably because they had better nutrition, better upbringing, probably did less physical labor, and had better health care. I also know of several wealthy people that spend vast amount of time and money on skin care at a Spa, and their skin looks fantastic...almost glowing. My old girlfriend suugested that it was more than this, possibly just better genetics. What do you think?

@ Davie J: She is my ex-GF, but yes she definitely has some stong attitudes, and sadly HATES the poor :-( I tried to ignore it but it got to be too much after a while.

nutrition, better upbringing, probably did less physical labor, and had better health care.
just those mostly
less worry, less stress, vacations sometimes, time with friends, money for hobbies
some wealthy people have stress too, just different stress, could be even worse sometimes than mild poverty stress

It's not generally true. Some very rich people are ugly because they only breed amongst the same families of very rich people. They are therefore inbred and their unattractive faces show this.
Amongst the people who can be called the meritocratic rich who have become rich because of genetic fitness good looks might be a common feature.
Thankfully nature makes sure that new blood is always required to stop people becoming too ugly through inbreeding so this is why the poor always have a chance to get into the gene pool of the rich.

If you don't have to work, and you can afford beauty treatments, you will look better. But wealth doesn't say anything about natural beauty. You can't buy what you don't have. I've seen poor people from places like Uganda who look much more stunning than rich hags like Donatella Versace. Genetics has nothing to do with money, and at this point, you can't buy good genes. As for a good upbringing, money can't buy class. And for your ex to put others down for being poor shows what kind of upbringing SHE had!

I got two words for you -TED KENNEDY - he just a picture of great genetics. MALARKY - money doesnt have a thing to do with it. Rich people can be like everyone else. I will give examples: Paris Hilton - Rich - pretty - but dumb as a brick. Donald Trump - Rich - Rich - Bald underneath his weave. Should I go on. I agree with you. Money does make all those things easier and without money Paris Hilton would be a crack ho.

It sounds to me that your girl friend is a gold digger! You had better look out! Oh and by the way when they die they all moan and groan because of the pain and then GOD sends them to hell because of their neglect of the poor. What? You really think there better than you? Not quite! Be happy with what you have and enjoy life no matter what happens to you and be kind to others because we have all had our problems, even the rich! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and all!

No, I think that's a ridiculous theory. I know plenty of good-looking poor people and there are some nasty looking rich people, who, if they didn't have the resources available to them such as good stylists and plastic surgery would be even worse. Paris Hilton anyone? Ew! She is totally plastic. And what's with that nose??

What Kurticus1 said. Less stress, better access to health care, better knowledge of what is healthy; more money to spend on better food and vitamins. Vacations, going for massages, etc.

Well, I used to be poor, and was average - moderately attractive. Now I'm rich and considered beautiful. Once I got $, I bleached my hair platinum blonde, had numerous surgical procedures on face and body, and hired a personal trainer. You have no idea how much $ rich women spend on beauty, you really can't imagine until you enter that group yourself... In a rich social circle, there is enormous social pressure to be beautiful; its extremely competitive...

Not genetically, no, they just have more money to spend on themselves to attempt to make them appear more materialistacly good looking. I actually think that a lot of really famous people are quite homely looking. Really, I don't think Hollywood especially is filled with a lot of good looking people. Just people who are too self-centered and spend all their money on making themselves look presentable to the world.

I think they look a little bit better because they have the right amount of nourishment and the right tools to take care of them selves but judge people it doesn't matter about whats on the outside
