Democracy kicks in about every five years, when you can change governments. From an individual perspective, you are limited by the intelligence of the rest of the electorate. Oh dear! Increasingly though, I think that the pompous left wingers within the TV media are running the country, or at least, indoctrinating it.

Yes if you vote you could change the puppet that represents you. But who 'really' controls the world, makes policy, decides where things are headed. Who gets richer from policy decisions. Who puts people up to vote for?
Money makes this World go round and to believe that either it doesn't, or that it is left to chance, or that the people decide or some such other explanation, is just naive.
Secret, powerful organisations have been around, influencing policy and lining their own pockets since before the Crusades! So what makes modern life so different?
Democracy exists, but not to the level we are lead to believe. We get to decide all the stuff they have no interest in. What are they called? Is there just one organisation? Who are they? Who knows?

Only idiots believe in conspiracies.
There are so many forms of democracy. I am assuming you think that direct democracy doesn't exist, and you are right. Direct democracy would work for a village of a 100, but wouldn't work for a countyr of 300 million, it would be too expensive and inefficient. What we have is representative democracy. So you can't just attack the paradigm of democracy as a whole. Pick up a book about public administration or how government works....

Hello,
Yes, the really do exist and if anyone tells you otherwise, they are living in a dreamworld.
The politicians, fat cats and busnies men you speak of are a part of the Illuminati/ Bildeburgs/Freemans/Skull and Bones/Tri Lateral Commission/CFR(Counil on Foregin Relations)/Bohemian Club (Grove).
Our nation has been under the thumb of these secret societies since George Washington was president.
Hope this helps you...................... : - O

The UK is governed by a political elite usually called the Liberal Elite. They are sometimes also called the Mayfair Set, because that's where they hang out, in Mayfair away from us chavs.
The politicians of UK do not listen to the people - they get elected and re-elected time and time again and ignore the wishes of the people.
UK is NOT a DEMOCRACY.
UK is a CONSTITUTIONAL MONARCHY with a weak parliament stuffed with sycophants and party hacks who do not listen to the people - not even at an election.

democracy doesn't exist, if it did, then people like you and i would have a bigger say in what happens within our own society, but as it stand's politicians, and fat cats have more of a say than what we ordinary people in the street do.
democracy like communism is just a word that doesn't stand for or mean a thing in this world.

Not in the UK, apparently.
The question is, why does Blair say he is so keen on democracy in Iraq when he clearly has such utter contempt for the democratic process in Britain ?

Do you vote? Can you contact your representatives? Can people come up with referendums? Do the different branches have their checks and balances? Yes-we are a democracy.
