On route 93, the Hoover Dam.
Then nothing. That's all desert and not much too look at.
Not many places to stop for food. gas or bathroom until Kingman, AZ. then the same nothing to Phoenix.
Tried to go to wendy's in Kingman, AZ the line was out the door at 3pm. all the places were crowded, becuase that's the only place to stoip between the two cities.
Nice sencery of desert.
Done the trip both ways from
Phoenix to Las Vegas
and back.
Make sure you have a full tank of gas, and don't have to go.

The road - seriously. Do not do this trip at night.
U.S 93 between I-40 and Wickenberg AZ is an extremely dangerous stretch of highway. There are many places where cell phones will not work and by the time they airlift you to a phoenix or las vegas hospital you could be dead. Once you get to Wickenbertg you're OK.
As many others have said Hoover dam is a worth a visit once in your life. There is a full stop security check point just before you reach the dam. and then it's about an hour or so into Kingman AZ - get gas before getting on the interstate.
If you want to something really great and you don't mind missing the dam on the outbound trip,
just before you reach Boulder City there is a light. make a right at the light and follow US 95 all the way to I-40 east . take I-40 E one exit cross the river and then to SR 95 N and then look for signs for RT66 / Oatman AZ go into Oatman and then follow
RT66 *back into Kingman- worth the detour
You can also back track and follow SR 95 south through lake havasu and London Bridge. Continuing on SR 95 will take you to Quartzite and I-10 into phoenix.
The population of Quartzite explodes in winter because of a heavy influx of RV-ers and the town takes on a carnival atmosphere- another worthwhile detour
*check on that route number back into kingman while it is the old RT 66 it may have a different number. What you want to do is go through Sitgreaves Pass which is where a lot of the Oakies first caught a glimpse of California.

Well, for one there are not a lot of roads. Hoover Dam and Lake Mead are fun stops. The Dam has a museum and tours. Seguaro National Forest is down that way too, how far off the road, I don't know. Grand Canyon if you want to cut north a bit first.

i imagine i'd only advise heading from Vegas on to Yosemite on day 7-- it really is an 8 or so hour rigidity which will take up maximum of your day, and Yosemite is enormous sufficient and stunning sufficient to justify more beneficial than an afternoon. also: you may honestly spend more beneficial than an afternoon on the GC, yet only going, taking one look on the vista, and questioning 'wow it extremely is the most marvelous situation i have ever seen' is thoroughly nicely well worth the vacation. also you may attempt taking a sightseeing flight over the canyon.

Um, there's this little hole called THE GRAND CANYON that you might consider visiting. Go to Hoover Dam too....since I'm a former engineer I thought that was pretty cool.

Take in the natural beauty of the desert! Sage brush, tumbleweed, sand, mountains and cactus. If you're driving at night...you'll see an abundance of the brightest stars you've ever seen. Very romantic!!
