Rod Serling death was caused by some complications arising from a coronary bypass operation he had. Also, before the operations he had 2 heart attacks.

He had a blockage in one of his arteries and died of a heart attack the night before he was to go into surgery to repair it. If I am not mistaken, he was 57 when he died.
From the documentary about him on PBS a year or two ago, he was born Jewish, converted, and wrote short stories that inspired millions.

He was a heavy smoker and had already had 2 prior heartattacks when he went in for surgey. He had another heart attack durin the surgery and died the following day.

if i remember correctly, he died of cancer, lung cancer.
