Ok to everyone who told me that the definition of the word is the meaning...... you are wrong. the Definition of moon is a rocky body that orbits a planet, and the meaning of the word is... to wander about aimlessly and pass time so shut up you little know-it-alls. And to the person who said it was a blonde question that i asked...... i'm in 8th grade and i'm taking the 10th grade science class... so yeah i must be pretty dumb. HOW RUDE!

Er the definition is a description of what it means??

It's a big rock that orbits our planet you can see it when it is dark.

Alternatively its a slang expression meaning to pull down ones pants and display ones naked bottom to an onlooker. Often in a bent over position accompanied by a sharp repeated two handed slapping action of the butt cheeks.

In response to your outlandish retort:

def·i·ni·tion Pronunciation[def-uh-nish-uhn]

the formal statement of the meaning or significance of a word, phrase, etc.

I think the failure to accept when your wrong when you obviously are is rather arrogant nevermind rude.

A definition is the meaning of a word.

The word moon originated in the 12th century AD ... as a noun, it refers to a planet's natural satellite. As a verb, it is usually used in reference to idle reverie or daydreaming.
