West Point is in New York and is definitly one of the top schools to go to if you can get in.

Ok, being a grad, I gotta tell you that its a toss up. Each school and state will have its pro's and cons. The weather, local flavor, activities, hotties, rude people/idiots, racial mix, and of course degree programs and costs. I prefer in order: California big city universities, upstate New York Universities, smaller California U's and finally and least of all, New York City U's. Thats me based on the kind of people and environment I want to be. BUT if I wanted an Architectural degree - I'm off to NYC hands down. Particle Physics? Stanford. Figure out what you want to study and who has the better program, how much you can afford and what kind of environment you want to be in.

It depends on what you want to do and what college you want to go to. If you're moving to CA, you probably want to attend a state school - they have some of the best in the country - UCLA, Berkeley, Santa Cruz, etc. If you move to NY, you probably don't want to go to a state school - there are lots of them (SUNY schools) but not many high-ranked ones (except maybe Stony Brook). Look into libral arts colleges in NY (Vassar, Skidmore) or large private universities (Cornell, Columbia).
