It does seem to be taking over. The only programme that doesn't give you a number to call is the News, but I'm sure they're working on it. But the previous answerers are right, you do have the option of not phoning and leaving it up to the general public / idiots.
I quite like some of the reality shows, but the trick is not to take them too seriously. Big Brother and Celebrity Jungle just make me laugh out loud, and it's good to do that occasionally.
As for Sky, even though there are 400+ channels, there are still occasions when there is nothing on, and that's when I turn to Yahoo Answers, which at the moment is still free. Yippee!!!!

No-one forces you to vote for these people on reality TV or even watch them. Surely you can live without voting for Myleene on I'm a Celebrity or what's-her-face on Strictly Come Dancing. As for all the best shows being on Sky, have you ever seen Cirque de Celebrite on Sky One? The 'ringmaster' is Ruby Wax and it's actually enough to make you slash your wrists. Other than that, it's Friends reruns, Simpsons reruns, Sex and the City reruns etc. Best advice is to read a book.

I just watch and don't phone.
As for license, if I could choose between paying a license and paying a sky subscription, I know which one I'd choose.
Instead, I pay £250 per year for the sky ( about 300 channels ) and £120 for the bbc, which adds up to about 7 or 8.

nobody forces you to phone up and vote on silly reality tv shows, do you really care that much who wins?

Nobody forces you to watch or to vote...stop blaming someone else for your high phone bills....the costs are always displayed so if you don't want to pay it then don't pick up the phone....simple really.
