I live in upstate NY. I have a property line that goes right down the middle of a row of LARGE white pine trees. I want to cut them down, my neighbor does not. Do I have any recourse?

First I would attempt to determine who legally owns the trees. If you own them, you are free to remove them. In many states, you can cut branches back to the property line even if the owner objects. In the case you describe, cutting back to the property line would probably kill the trees. This complicates the issue. You should probably have the property surveyed to confirm where the property line actually is. Often people believe a row of trees or a fence form the property line when they may not be on the actual line. Next consult an attorney to find out what your rights are.
