Transferring one of your phone numbers on your account to another phone is called an ESN change. Doing this on Sprint PCS is free. The only catch is getting the new phone. Most of the prices you see advertised for new phones are after a discount you receive in exchange for signing a contract. Assuming you don't want to extend your existing contract or are unable to, you will have to buy a new phone outright. This will cost you at least $150 if the phone is brand new and bought from Sprint. You can find used phones much cheaper on eBay.

If you can extend your existing contract, this would be the cheapest way to go about getting a new phone. This would be considered a phone upgrade. If you originally signed a 2 year contract, your eligibility for the upgrade program begins 1 year after you signed the contract. After 1 year, if you extend your contract for 1 year, you get a $25 discount. If you extend it for 2 years, you get a $75 discount. For example, that would make their cheapest phone cost $75 instead of $150. If you've had your service for at least 22 months, you can get even bigger discounts. Extend your contract by 1 year you get $75 off, and by 2 years you get $150 off.
