Try a different graphics card. If that solves your problem, your old graphics card is bad. If it doesn't solve your problem, then you have another problem. Go to Wal-Mart and buy a grafx card. You can return it if it doesn't work.

1, does the screen come on the computer
2, does windows look normal
3, run 3dmark and see if any abnormalities in the graphics appear such as horizontal lines or weird rainbow colours, does the pc complete the 3d mark benchmark or crash mid-testing.
Chose an apropriate 3d mark for your system as the new versions are only for very high spec graphics cards.

if any of the above fail then it could be among other problems your graphics card is broken or damaged due to excess heat or overclocking. It could also be an nuber of other things too though.
Try a different graphics card and see if the same problem occurs.

the best way to check a graphics card is to go to start then run and type "dxdiag" without the quotes and then go onto the display tab. Then run the tests listed if they work then your graphics card is fine.

If you have a spare then just take it out and put the spare in and if everything is working fine then your card is bust.
Its hard to tell what the problem is without more specifics.
