Trees, ornaments with candy canes and santas, and red and green bows with holly are *Christmas-related*. Please, people, they are not related to any other holiday!

Its great to be all inclusive, since there are a lot of holidays in December for people of all ethnic backgrounds and religions, but when stores specifically market Christmas decorations and paraphernalia as “holiday”, that is insane!

And also, stores are willing to make tons of money off of Christmas, (with presents, decorations, and food items) but they are embarrassed to use the word in print or let their employees say “Merry Christmas”?

So, I would like to say:
MERRY CHRISTMAS! Peace on Earth, Goodwill towards men!

(how can the message of peace and goodwill be offensive?)

Any Comments?

I agree with you. Unfortunately, the retailers want the money from Christmas and have turned it into a secular holiday. MANY, MANY people have truly forgotten what Christmas is really about.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you too!

I am a Christian - but we can get too narrow too can't we?
Christmas has a significant cultural aspect whether we like it or not.
Millions of people ( especially Americans) celebrate it without any significant recognition of Christ's birth - Santa Claus, etc.
I am not saying it is right because I am against it but I understand retailers deal with a full public as the ones who support their survival - we at least need to acknowledge it is a tough decision to market for them - meaning to Non-Christians.
As Christians - our #1 job is spread the Gospel which you did with your "Merry Christmas" and never have anything less tham a loving, accepting spirit.
We look bad when we get mad about such things - we need to affect our world, that God has given us, effectively with teaching and kindness. People know what Christmas is - let's show it to them - because they do not understand the message of peace and goodwill is connected to Christ - we have to be the connection to them.

i have a comment...what difference does it make in the scheme of things? the 'Christmas tree' or 'holiday tree' has nothing to do with Christ...the only tree that matters is the one used to make the cross He died on...i absolutely love Christmas, but there is a difference between the cultural Christmas and the spiritual Christmas...and stop believing everything you hear about a 'war on Christmas'...it's a hoax, people...

It's just a way for Christians to pretend that they're not foisting their practices on the rest of the population. They seem to think that if they just call it 'holiday', they can do everything just as they've always done it and the rest of us will fall right in line with them.

Yeah, right.
