truck 2002 gmc sanoma:the rpm gauge is normally at 1 or 1 and a 1/2 when stopped. I drive and stop or go in reverse it drops below that or my truck will shut down if i put it in neutral it wont shut off, plus my fuel gauge goes down and up dramaticly especially when i put it in neutral what different kind of problems are there?

If all this is going nuts, First I would check the battery ground. Next check the altinator output. It sounds like therre is a power drain .

The ground wire between your engine and frame is loose or missing. Since the battery and alternator are grounded to the engine and the gauges are grounded to the frame, if you don't have a good electrical connection between the two the gauges will go gaga.

if you just turn the key on and stand outside of the truck shake the truck violently watching the fuel gauge if it goes crazy your truck needs a fuel level sensor due to corrosion

i would take it to the shop so they can charge you thousands to fix it when it something simple that you can do yourself
