A lot of people get surprised because about half of highschoolers will have sex before they graduate. (Interesting info sheet about it on the website listed below) And from my high school experience I can tell you that about half the people who haven't had sex are probably lying to everyone and saying that they have! :) So people are surprised when they find someone who's willing to be so straightfoward about their virginity.
I think it's fabulous, and I hope that when you do have sex for the first time it's something special with someone you love. I was a virgin until I was 21 and I'm glad I waited.

Gurl..Look....I Lost My Virginity When I Was 16..I'm 18 Now..I Really Regret It. I Mean...Dont Let Peer Pressure Push You Into Having Sex...Theres Nothing Wrong With Being A Virgin. Its Not Weird At All.You Prolly Heard This Alot Before..But...Just Wait...Dont Feel Pressured..Dont Let Anybody Tell You Any Different. You Just Do It When You Feel That Your Ready...Its Better To Be In A Relationship WhereThe Both Of You Are Commited And Comfortable With One Another. If Your In The Relationship..And Yall Bout To Get It On...IF YOU DONT FEEL RIGHT,COMFORTABLE OR JUSS READY.....Dont Do It.I Know This Was Long..But.Lol..I Hope It Helps :)

Because in this day and age people know that sex sells everything. To be a virgin past the early teen years seems weird to some people, because lots like to experiment and screw up their lives. You should be proud of yourself for being a virgin. I was a virgin until I was 18. And I only lost it because I was ready and had found someone that I truly loved. I'm still with him, by the way, and I'm 21 now. You shouldn't have to have sex with someone to be accepted as "normal."

That's nobody's business but your own. I have friends in the 40's and still haven't had sex. You wait until you find the right person. All these people that are sleeping with everyone will end up getting AIDS or some other disease. You do what's right for yourself but don't worry what other's think as there the dumb ones becuase they will get some disease by sleeping around.

a girl asked a question one time asking about losing virginity before graduating high school and this is what I told her:
the whole "needing to sleep with someone in high school or get made fun of" comment is ridiculus!...no offense...but if someone is not ready then they arent ready and shouldnt just give in because of the "norm"...i am 19 years old, in college, and i am still a virgin and I have not been made fun of for it...i have actually been praised because you dont find many virgins my age anymore...pressure is ridiculus these days and if you think you are being pressured into doing something sexually that you dont want to do then listen to what your mind is saying and follow what you believe not what others are doing...regret is the worst feeling and something like that...you can never get it back...think hard about choices like this...SEX IS NOT A REQUIREMENT TO GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL!...and if you believe then you should take a step back and look at your mind set and choices apart from everyone elses!

,I don't find it weird I have a cousin who is 21 and is still a virgin. It's a personal choice don't let anyone tell you your wrong for waiting until your ready. I think it's great and if you save yourself for marriage I know this will make your husband happy. What a great wedding night gift. I think you should get an award I wish more young people were like you.

That shouldn't be weird. It should be admirable. A person of 17 that has been able to refrain from "it" obviously has good morals and is confident enought not to give in to the peer pressure to have "it". I'm proud of you (if no one else is) and I hope you can keep up the good work!

Peer pressure darlin'. The younger generation believe that your not "cool" unless you have sex. Others figure your a geek or dork....because you haven't done "it" yet. I'm proud of you personally because you are not doing something that your not ready to do yet. Good on you. When your ready, you will know and don't worry what others have to say sweets.

I was wondering the same thing. I am 20 and am saving myself for my husband and when I tell people that sometimes they ask why. Most people tell me that it is admirable though and I believe them. I learned in a psych class that a woman is forever connected to her first sexual partner whether she wants to be or not. I want that connection to be with someone that I know I love and trust and will be with hopefully forever. Good job to you for waiting for the right one and not giving yourself away.

People your age like to put pressure on each other. Like its not "cool" to be a virgin. Its normal at 17 to be a virgin, most of my girl friends were until thier twenties. Don't do it until you are ready, and preferably with someone you love and who respects you- thats my best advice
