Make a network with a router and use an ethernet cable to connect both computers to the router. You can share files from that point on. You can also try a USB cable to connect them both to each other. If you make a LAN(local area network) and link them that way, it will stay that way untill you change it.

Good luck.

The easiest way would be FireWire. FW is "peer-to-peer". It would allow each computer to "see" the other computer's hard drive and read and write too it. However it requires FW connectors, which, unless you have a mac, you will probably have to add.

If both computers have ethernet connectors you can set up a mini network by getting a "null modem" (an ethernet cable that has one side wired in reverse order.) Check at our local computer store (about $20)

If it's only for file backup, you don't have to get a cable for this. Why not get youself a removable hard drive?
