In the movie of course Tom Hanks is not really there, but it looks like the stage was set up west of the reflecting pool in West Potomac Park. I write that he was not there because the WW II monument would have been visible in the photograph had they actually filmed the movie when they did. Behind him would be the Lincoln Memorial and of course in the photograph in the distance is the Washington Monument.
