It depends if you hear a clicking noise everytime you hit the start posistion. If you do or dont make sure you dont have dirty or loose battery terminals. If you hear a clicking noise then you are getting power to the starter solinoid but the solinoid may be bad.

Solution:
You will need one multimeter to test solinoid. And one friend.

Turn multimeter on: select 20vdc
Find starter solinoid attached to inside of fender well or firewall, If you cant find one, locate starter.
Take positive side of multimeter cable and place onto positive terminal on the starter solinoid. Place multimeter ground cable to a clean ground on the vehicle. One side of solinoid should read 11.5 to 12.5 at all times. Have your hands and debris clear from engine, have your friend hold the ignition switch in the start posistion. Test the oppisite side of solinoid, if the voltage is any lower then the original side replace the solinoid. Replace both starter and solinoid.

If you dont have a clicking from the starter or solinoid and are not showing equal amount of voltage on both solinoid posts, your ignition switch may be bad.

Solution:

Pull steering colum apart, Use multimeter test for Voltage coming from the Ignition switch to the starter solinoid. If there isnt any juice, replace the ignition switch.

I would make sure you diagnose the problem first before trying to replace a bunch of parts and wasting a pile of money when it could be something simple as a loose connection, dirty or loose battery terminals or a bad ignition switch.

I'm guessing you have either a bad battery connection...Even though the cables are new or you may have a wire that has fallen near the battery that you didn't hook up. Check the ground cable and make sure it's connected to a good ground and is tight. Turn your head lights on and start wiggling wires to see if they flicker on and off. If you do find a wire that causes this clean it and tighten it. Also Check your fuses and the ignition switch relay.

Just because the gages move doesn't mean there is eneff juice in the battery to turn the starter.. First check the battery voltage.
Next check the cabled for tight.
check the starter

what does it do when you try to start it? Does it crank at all? Do you hear any noises when its starting that don't sound right? Based on what your description it could be out of fuel, have no battery, have a low charge battery, have no engine, have 1 of 8,000 other problems. Could you be a little more specific?

Get a jump. If your lights are dim you can be assured it's your battery. Yet you say they don't even come on. Try the jump first. Next, Look in your fuse box for ignition relay. Next look in owner's manuel for relays and check ignition relay.

Sounds like the battery. Get a boost and see if that helps. Then get a new battery...they don't last forever.

If you have enough power in the battery you most likely have starter probs.
