I used to think that girls should wait until they are at least 25 and guys should wait til they're 30 (this is what my mom always said). I still think this is a good rule of thumb. But 25 came and went for me and I wasn't ready. Now I am 30 and I guess I am finally ready - I'm engaged and will be married next year (I'll be 31 and my fiance will almost be 37- first marriage for both of us). I am a big believer and supporter of WAITING --- and NOT getting married young (like early 20's)
Too many people get married too young and there is a higher rate of divorce among them. You are constantly growing and changing as a person, and you will be a different person at 28 than you were at 18 or 20. There are no guarantees in life but you will have better odds if you grow and mature; take some time for yourself - get an education, get a good job, travel, do whatever you want - have some fun and then settle down. I don't know why everyone is always in such a rush to get out of school get married and have kids right away. Marriage, Kids and a Career can all be difficult 'tasks' in life - why try to jump on all of them at the same time when you are only still just a kid? When you should be having fun and getting experience in life? TAKE YOUR TIME - there's no reason to rush into anything!

In the US, the average age of a first marriage is 25(female) and 27(male). There is data out there that shows higher divorce rates in people who married younger (right out of high school or soon thereafter) and people who married later (mid-thirties and beyond). Other than that, it's a personal decision and you should only get married when you're 100% ready (emotionally, financially, etc).

They say you don't know what you truly want in life until you are 25, but I got married when I was 22 & I wouldn't change a thing...so I would say at least 21!

40-45 is usually the max age zone for before getting married.

I think mid to late 20's. Then you can really know that you want to get married for sure.
