I spanked my sister while I was babysitting her and she was not doing what I told her to do and she made a mess in the bathroom and refused to clean up so I spanked her. Then my mom heard about it and spanked me. And my 8 yr. old sister got to spank me with a hairbrush. Was this fair? What would you do if you were me or if you were my mother?

Well, if for some reason I had some right to give my opinion....
I don't think if your mother wanted to spank you it would be wrong (I mean, if you knew you weren't to spank your sister).
But the part about the sister spanking you sounds like some progressive pre-school. But that doesn't give you the right to disrespect you parents.
At 16 I remember I thought I knew better than my parents in so much... I was so dumb LOL.
When I was young enough to get spanked it was done right....
1) I was warned first (we only got a spanking as the 'capital' punishment. Not just out of the blue... unless we KNEW we were absolutely dishonoring my parents).
2) Then either my mom or my dad (usually my dad would be the one to be sent to do it) would call us into their bedroom (our punishment of a spanking was never a public thing to try to humiliate).
3) He (or she) would then tell us what we had done wrong and why we were wrong. Then they would tell us how many smacks we were going to get (usually 3 to 5... hardly ever more)
4) We were told to stand still (only when we were very small did we go over a knee, then of course 1 or 2 smacks) if we tried to block the punishment we were told it would only hurt more and usually increase the number (by 1 or 2). When we were older, say 13 till about 15 we had to hold our hand out.
5) After the punishment they would sit with us to tell us why we are told to do things and to obey, they would ALWAYS tell us they loved us and that is why they had to punish us. So we would learn the difference between right and wrong.
I can't think of a better way for parents to handle their children.
We were never humiliated through it. The spanking 'positions' changed as age did (meaning we weren't forced over a knee when we were old enough to understand better.... then it progressed to stand up.... we NEVER had our pants down. They didn't do that).
When it was a joint punishment (I have a brother :) ) we were punished separately. One would wait outside until the other had his punishment and then after they had been talked, then they would leave while the other received theirs. A belt was the tool usually and did the work (as I remember LOL) without being to much, it was never used as a weapon (like beating) it was used correctly.
I call that respectful punishment. We were always treated decently and it was never just a whaching fit like some liberal nuts would like people to think.
NOT if done in LOVE and correctly.
So I typed a lot, sorry but I wanted to point out correct spanking.

Spanking is NOT abuse. Contrary to what many liberal groups would like to make parents think (and scare them). In fact in areas that have had school related violence the local government has run ads trying to let parents know that spanking is NOT abuse and that they DO have the right to use spanking as punishments.
Spankings when administered in the correct manner in no way teach a child to hit.

If you were left in charge, then you were right to try and discipline your sister, although spanking by a sibling is not acceptable. I don't think your Mom should have let you sister spank you with the hair brush, because what kind of message does that send?? It's okay to hit, when Mom says so?? That's not right. I wouldn't offer to babysit anymore. Tell your mom, that if you can't discipline your sister then you can't watch her, cause she doesn't respect you and wont listen to you. Good luck.

Adults should be the ones to discipline children, not other children. You should have sent her to her room or some other form of restriction, but it was inappropriate for you to spank her.
I understand why your mother probably spanked you and allowed your sister to as well, but I'm not sure that was the best approach...however since it seems to have upset and embarrassed you, I'll bet it had the desired effect...I don't expect you will spank your sister again.

That is SO not fair if I would you I would refuse point blank to be spanked. If I were your mom i would NEVER do that, your sister should have listened to you and although spanking isn't the best way of solving it but still.

No it's not right for you to spank your sister.... but where did you learn this from? Obviously there is a little too much "hitting" going on in this household. I don't think any of it is right!
Kinda like the domino effect I guess you could say.

Yeah you deserve to go over your mom's knee for a good spanking and for your little sister to spank your botty with hairbrush so that you can feel what you did to her.

First off, don't spank your siblings, second, spanking should stop after you're 7, which includes you, and I think its really weird that you still get spanked by your parents when you're 16.

If I were your mother you would both get spanked to insure she was punished for not minding you and you for spanking her.

firstly you are more a woman than you mother sad to say,but your mother is immature and needs to start acting her age and not like some little child taking childish revenge because she seems to favors your little more than you.Your mother has to teach your little sister how to obey their older sister and if she cannot do it then someone else will have to do it.But if you are trying and this is the type of bullshit that's happening the leave your little sister alone.Let your mother see for herself how your little sister behaves and let your mother try to train her correctly if she can.Other than your mother must be find out how fortunate your little sister is to have a big sister to look out for her and make sure things go ok when she is not around.
