People who give looking to receive is at the heart of why you feel the way you do and the reason that the season is such a major depression for SO many people !!!
If you do not give from the goodness of your heart with no thoughts of the return---- you are part of the single most un-Christmas centered tradgedy of the holiday !!
It is this spirit of Give-me at this season that is as unseasonal as an attitude could possibily be !!

If you can not get for others--- that is the way it is
If they do not understand this and live with it the absolute same as if you gave them the stars THEY and not YOU are out of step with the whole thing !!!!
Hold your head up and be of good cheer---
for ALL of us received the gift of our lives on one quiet night in Bethlehem and THAT my friend is enough for JOY ETERNAL !!!

See that's the problem with the secular folks taking over a religious holiday. It isn't about giving or receiving gifts. Christmas is about the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Period. Accept God's gift to you and stop worrying about the presents. His is the only one worth having.

Honey, I've been there and done that. There is so many things you can do for people that cost nothing. Give them a ticket offering to babysit, wash their car, walk their dog. If these are people that love you they will understand that it is one of those years that you don't have extra money to spend on presents. If it's not someone close don't worry about them anyway. Please don't be depressed, it's Jesus' Birthday, and he was born in a manger.

If you are referring to yourself you do not need to buy gifts if you cannot afford it. Instead you can offer your services to a family membersuch as doing their chores for them. That is the best gift you can offer.

It's depressing that you are missing the whole point of Christmas.
It's not about the gifts!

Why don't you donate what you get this year to charity and help those who can't afford to buy gifts?
