In 1970 it was a criminal act to have an abortion in Texas except as a life saving measure of the women. Both the doctor and the patient could be charge with this criminal offense. The court ruled that the Texas statute violate Roe's right to privacy. That it was not the business of the state to know if Roe's life was threaten by being forced to carry a child to term. It struck down the Texas law and any other state's anti abortion law that violate the women's privacy.
