I think he's a great singer. But I do think you've got a point.
You could extend this criticism to any of those slebs who sit on a bank balance of millions, and then try to make us feel guilty about having £20 in the bank. Between them they're in posession of enough money to solve half the world's problems in an instant - much of which comes out of our pockets, I might add - and yet they're always begging us to donate money, as if supporting worthy causes is solely our responsibility, and every person who dies through lack of charitable aid is somehow our fault. How much of their money goes into charity boxes, I wonder? Shameless, sanctimonious hypocrites, the bloody lot of 'em.

I think he looks much less self-satisfied than, say, the game or konyay west. I agree that he should be giving away his millions before he implores working class folks to give up their hard earned money for his (mostly worthy) causes. Anyway, who else besides me thinks charity begins at home (i.e., fix New Orleans and Mississippi b4 Iraq).
By the way, Bruce Springsteen is another one.

humorous, he does not have taken it some years in the past yet on the grounds that he's been "In mattress with Blair" that is a real looking payoff i think. Bob Geldoff prepared the floor for Irish adult males to settle for an honorary knighthood so who's Paul Heuson to argue. he will be KBE like Bob and wasnt it John Paul Getty were given one a similar time as Bob, for donations to artwork galleries

Well, let's put it this way. If he was made out of chocolate, he'd eat himself.
He is astonishingly big headed. And some of his "statements" make me wonder if he thinks of himself as some kind of statesman or something.
What he's doing isn't even original. I mean, an Irish pop star adopting a high moral tone and trying to lecture us all on World Affairs. This is exactly what that scruffy twit Geldof did too - why do we listen to their egocentric garbage?
Incidentally we should never forget that U2 condoned terrorism- (when it was fashionable to, of course...).

My hubby thinks that ever since Sir Bob got his knighthood Bono now wants to be made a Saint. This is a rant he has every time he sees him on the TV. Got to respect the music but he hasn't got the modesty to compliment whatever good intentions he has.

I so agree with you!
Did you hear this?
Bono was at a gig in Dublin and started to clap, slowly....the crowd joined in with the clapping. Everyone was clapping for a few minutes when Bono said every time I clap my hands a child in Africa dies................A bloke in the front row shouted " stop feckin' clapping then"
Why oh why does he think he is holier than the rest of us?

He's as bloated as a dead river bison. The stench of his pretentiousness wafts to very ends of the earth.

I think he's running for god or something with those speeches he gives and I would like to see him practising what he preaches.
