First of all, whoever said cheerleading wasn't a sport and is easy... never had a coach like mine. We always had a practice everyday minimum of 2 hours and we did not take more that two 5 minute breaks. The first and most important thing is, are you loud enough to be a cheerleader? At games, the crowds have hundreds or thousands of people.. depending on school sizes.. and you have to be louder then all of THEM! Second thing is do you have the time to give and dedicate yourself to your team? Yes cheerleading is a sport and you have a team that's counting on you. After that it's pretty simple. Since your a dancer you've got the flexibility down, but for high school cheering that's not THAT important. You'll strech everyday to become more flexible and it won't take long. One thing you should practice is facial expressions. Even if you mess up something you just keep smiling and keep that crowd pumped up! For jumps, the major ones are Pikes, Toe Touches, Herdlers, Double Nines.. and if theres any other that your school does they will most likely show you. The important thing for jumps is not necessairly the HIEGHT of the jump but overall APPERANCE. You would rather have a girl who is very tight with her motions and not sloppy rather than a girl who throws herself into a jump just to get air. Last but not least, make sure if you know any motions that you practice them. Make sure you really stick it. Make sure there tight and in precise location.. hold it there for a few seconds and release and then throw them back up... that way in cheers and chants it will just be natural to where your arms go. Last but DEFFANITLY NOT LEAST... have FUN! This worked for me and I've been cheering pretty much my entire life.

Well I can not reply whether or not or no longer you can be required to do a "again turn" (tumbling) due to the fact that the one individuals who could understand this are the instruct or individuals of the squad. All cheerleading squads require one of a kind competencies for his or her cheerleaders. Some won't require tumbling competencies in any respect, while a few might require the potential to do complex tumbling. Most cheerleading tryouts commonly require capabilities squad individuals to participate in a chant and/or a cheer, dancing, and cheerleading jumps (toe touches and such). I could propose moving into touch with the squad's instruct or a present member of the squad and ask what special matters you ought to understand so you'll get ready.

Make sure that when you tryout that you smile a lot and if you mess up then just keep going and play it off like nothing happened. When I tried out it was a must that you know how to do at least a cartwheel so keep practicing!

first of all, why would you put a cheerleading question in the dancing section?? cheerleaders are nothing but girls with big asses and like to screem, get a bof if your gonna be like that, or choose a real sport!
