What does the message "there is an IP address conflict with another system on the network" mean?

I keep getting this message pop up on my computer. I have DSL internet hooked up to wireless. No speculations please... answer only if you know.

This means that another computer in the LAN has the same IP address as that of your computer. After receiving this error, your computer will shut down.

sounds like your wireless router does not have NAT (Network Address Translation)
which basically automatically talks to your provider's server and
Negotiates the address for your pc and others in the network
either that or your router is confused ,burnt or somthing

you can figure most of this out in the wireless device's configuation page which can be accessed either by its own setup page or by entering your main ip in your web browser

what it means is there is annother computer using your network wether you know it or not and it has the same ip adress meaning its probably identical to yours or has the same network device
