I just uninstalled IE 7 and it worked fine.

If yours is giving you all this trouble, you could possibly try System Restore, other than that the only option I can think of is to do a full restore.

Please don't do that.

IE6 will die out, for a few reasons

- soon or later Microsoft will label it unsupported like it did with XP SP1, windows 98, windows ME, ... and that means there will be no more notifications of security problems nor any more patches (now it gets about a patch once a month). This will result in all nasty stuff having a free roam on your machine

- IE6's support for CSS is a true disaster webmasters are eagerly watching statistics to start to drop the support for IE6 as it's just way too hard to keep it (and IE7 is quite different with it'\s own set of nasty features)

- new computers will come only with IE7

If you do not like IE7, take a look at other browsers (they are free) like Firefox, Opera etc. they'll work great for you.

Good question, I'm having the same problem. I've found in task manager I can shut down cpu usage for system idle and that will allow you to start explorer again but beware using the X button to close programs (seems to lock thing up again) if you right click mouse & close that seems to help; untill the problem is fixed. Hope this helps you - I've spent the last 2 days restoring, deleting programs, setting up new IE programs - you name it.
Just to save you some headachs.

control panel/add remove programs .check make da box at da .top show updates then look down da .list ur see IE7 hit on that hit on remove IE 6 will come back but remember microsoft will cut its support for IE 6 and when vista comes out that will have IE7 on no IE 6 so if your going to update to vista it is best if you try to work with IE 7 you dont have to remove it you can use firefox
