lol, cable connection, good one.
Hang, was that a proper answer?
Anyway, you need to find out the IP address of both machines, goto start/run/cmd, type ipconfig
If will be something like 192.168.x.x
The second 'x' is the number of the machine.
Goto start/run again, simply type \\192.168.x.x (the IP address of the other PC) and up should pop the shared items on either PC and off you go.
Note, this will be Firewall dependant, you might need to edit some Firewall settings to do this.
Don't use a cable, unless it's 1986 and no-one told me.

What you need to do is get the ip of each machine - your routers configuration page should tell you that and then put those ip's into your firewall software and place them into the trusted zone, then setup shared folders on each machine to transfer files.

you need to set up a network between the two pc.
click on MY COMPUTER and highlight the C drive.
right click and hit SHARING.
it will say that you should not. click on it and tick the boxes in the network sharing. It will do something for about 5 mins and you will need to restart the machine.
You need to do thid on both pc. make sure both are on and click on my network places. The other pc's C drive will be there.

You must enable file sharing on each of your PCs.
You can do this, for example, by right clicking on the "My documents" folder and choosing "properties" then "sharing".
It's easy, really.
