Because I like the look of them. Although some people claim it's for some spiritual reason. And no, It's not because I think it's "cool".
I do a lot of research on a piercing before I get it and go to a tattoo place rather than somewhere that only does piercings (they have more hygiene restrictions of them) and obviously only go to somewhere that is clean.
I have my nostril, septum and vertical labret done. I won't get anything done that is going to be damaging (like 'normal' lip piercings are to teeth). Also piercings are semi permanent in most cases. If I decide I don't like them I can take them out and let the holes heal up. But I though about them a lot first to make sure they were all what I really wanted.

Stupidity. People do what looks good or feels right at the moment. I pierced my belly 4 years ago and I still regret it. I have been trying to get the hole to close for 3 years and it still wont. Everyday im reminded of a stupid decision that I made.

They think it makes them hot or tough but let me tell ya 4 years ago i got my nipples pierced and got Ecoli in my breast and almost died. I spent my 21st birthday in the ICU, so I highly discourage women and men from getting it done.

I got my belly button pierced when I was 16, I knew some girls who had theirs done and thought it was cute.. its not tacky like some facial piercings...5 yrs later...I still love it!!

Because the think its hot but its not and because probably all the "popular" kids have them and they get them so they can be exactly like them.
