Yes and No. But mostly No. It does give a good feel for the feeling of playing a guitar - coordinating your left and right hands, strumming on the beat, etc. But the actual MECHANICS of creating a chord on a guitar or reading sheet music are not attempted at all.

But I wouldn't say the experience is completely useless for someone learning. It also can provide some insight into how guitar parts of well-known songs are constructed, which is interesting. You think about the music differently while playing it in this way than when just listening to it.

No. It's way fun and it resembles playing the guitar, you will be no more able to play a real guitar after playing.
