Do you know of one of the many things that you can do to make a difference in the lives of the unborn? Ask your OB/GYN if he/she will perform an abortion for a friend who wants to avoid going to an abortion "clinic"...if he/she says yes, find another doctor, and when you leave the doctor that performs abortions, TELL HIM/HER WHY...encourage your like-minded friends to do the same. You can even leave your doctor if any of the other doctors at that practice perform abortions. It's called voting with your dollars and you have every right to do it. This is just one thing you can do if you're just not ready to "take the fight to the streets" yet. You can not only actively work against abortion, you can refuse to support it in many different ways. When doctors see business and the associated dollar signs $$$ walking out the door, they may just have second thoughts and discontinue killing babies by abortion.

Any comments, positive or negative, about this course of action are welcomed. :-)

Just to clarify, I'm suggesting that you discontinue going to your doctor if he/she performs abortions. Many doctors do abortions in their private practice, and you not only have a right to know that, but you have a right to choose another doctor that does not do that.

Also, make sure that your new doctors does not perform abortions before taking your business to them.

What does it have to do with judgment? Aren't you judging pro-life women for standing up for what they believe in by refusing to give their business to doctors who do something that they are morally opposed to? If you ask me, YOU are the ones who are being judgmental.
AND, the Question was not directed to you who advocate the availability of "abortion on demand". It was directed to those who believe that life begins at conception.

Obviously, this suggestion is for those who are already pro-life or who are struggling with it on the inside and find that making choices based on principles adds to the dignity of their daily lives.

Additionally, I would never suggest that a woman choose her doctor based SOLELY on whether he does abortions. Obviously, once you've found one who doesn't do abortions, make sure that he has the proper credentials, that you feel trust, and that you're comfortable with his personality, etc.

I know some people who pick a doctor based on the gender of the doctor, or even on something as superficial as the doctor's race or national origin. I can't imagine why someone would object to a woman choosing her OWN doctor based on a closely and dearly held moral belief. I would hope that a woman's "right to choose" holds true for other choices besides the right to choose an abortion.

I would hope that the women of today would know their doctors well enough to know already if they are pro choice or anti choice. If you are going to a doctor that you do not know well enough then I would say you have to do a little bit more homework before you put your health in the hands of someone you know nothing about. I research my doctors exhaustively before making a decision about who I see, I make informed decisions instead of running around assuming everybody with a PhD is better than me. I have been with anti choice doctors and pro choice doctors, I stay with the ones that treat me with the respect I need for the issues i am seeing them for.

So I guess what I am trying to say is that to be proactive you need to know the abortion stance of your doctor before you decide to be with him or her,if that is the thing that is most important to you in a medical professional. or are you suggesting that women just make appt. in order to ask this question and then walk out, not sure, either way freedom of choice is what you are suggesting here, and as i am pro choice I am all for it, choose your own doctor for your own reasons, regardless of their abortion stance.

I agree the judgment has to go out the window...and there are WAY to many children that are already born that need help.

I'm not against abortion.. I'm glad it's available. I don't believe it should be used as a form of birth control.. but in some situations it is very much needed.... wait until you walk in those shoes before you cast judgment.

professional determination. i don't precisely approve abortion as a ethical determination, yet i think of that if a woman desires to get an abortion, she could have each right to. i could in no way get one myself till there grow to be a controversy which would be volatile to me and/or the child (which includes ectopic being pregnant) or if I have been ever raped (God forbid). I additionally think of that no count what the regulation says, human beings are continuously going to choose abortions. i could plenty incredibly have those human beings get their abortions complete in a sparkling enviroment via a physician who's generally happening with what the hell they are doing than in some back alley with a coat hanger.

You need to stop judging other women, unless you walk in their shoes.
Why don't you go help the babies that are already BORN--and homeless/motherless/hopeless, and make a real difference in a real person's life, instead of making these women feel even WORSE about their decisions?
Every woman will face God to answer for her actions someday---she does not need to answer to YOU or the other pro-life ppl.
Get your priorities in order--if want "brownie points" from heaven, help the abused & neglected children that are suffering NOW--God takes care of his unborn in heaven!
