have you ever had to do this or have you embraced this line of reasoning

but can it really make you happier - where do your deepest dreams/hopes/wishes go afterwards

thanx

According to Buddhism, we suffer in life because we have cravings, desires, and attachments. Because the objects of our attachment are transient, their loss is inevitable, thus suffering will necessarily follow. And we can end our sufferings by reaching Nirvana, a state beyond all suffering.

This doesn't mean it will get rid of all the pains for you, it doesn't mean it works for everyone, it's about one's state of mind, if you clear all your thoughts about desires, passions, etc, keep a steady, calm and attentive state of mind. The pains and sorrows you had wil never go away, however you would treat them differently and turn them into something positive because you've reached NIrvana, the ultimate Enlightement. Then you will be able to see your true dreams, goals, etc.

Don't know anything about buddism nor want too, but I have come to find that pain is just a way to know that you are alive. That you are going to go through this its human nature. Its how i approach it is how u will be able to deal with it. For people its religion to others it yoga or meditation of some kind to either your inner thoughts or to a higher power (to me God). It's how u deal with it or destress from it that makes your life better or harsher from it. That's how i see it.

that is too philosophical for me. I now desire a pizza, so I will go and get it and make myself happy. It is much better to desire and feel the happiness of fulfilling them than it is to cut off desire and feel no pain.
