He will be hailed as a great friend of the USA and "defender" of the people of Chile.
However, the reality is that he was power-greedy dictator who overthrew a democratically elected leader in order to seize power for his own ends.
Hope he remembered his sun-block as I'm sure it is very hot where he is now.

Mr Bush had nothing to do with Mr Pinochet, please read your history before making nonsense remarks. Just because we talk to dictator that doesn't means that they are our friends. Right NOW the Democrats want to talk to Iran and Syria's dictators, do you consider them your friends?

Pinochet only oppressed the bad guys (Allende and co.), so that doesn't count. This country has a history of backing ANYONE who is anti-Communist, regardless of what they do, like the Shaw of Iran, Batista, Peron,.....
