In refernece to Moyle-Ceefax's answer, Rhorke's Drift (22 Jan 1879) was the most number of VC's ever given out on one day (and it was 11).
Unfortunatley it was not the Gurkhas who have won the most VC's, they have won 13 VC's, with an additional 13 going to the British officers who serve in Gurkha regiments.
Without a doubt it is the corps of Infantry who have won the most VC's out of any part of the army, but with the almagamtions that are going on in the army today, the new super regiments are taking all of their forbearers VC's - not that this is incorrect, just that it complicates the matter a bit.

Watch the movie Zulu, I think the regiment was called The Welsh Borderers, 11 VC's in one engagement "The Battle of Rourke's Drift" although some of the VC's went to the Royal Engineers and others.
