Since about Thursday, my girlfriend has started taking Microgynon 30 after having had her period (She takes 21 pills, then has a period for a week). She can't function when she's hungry, but when she tries to cook something for herself, she feels sick. She's never had sex with anybody other than me, so she's definitely not actually pregnant.
However, she's worried it could be a phantom pregnancy...

She's been taking them for a year now because of very heavy and painful periods with no side effects up until now, even when she's forgotten to take one one day and taken two the next day. She also takes iron for anaemia.

I'm a girl, BTW.

It sounds more like a side effect of the medication. She needs to see her doctor about switching medications.

For the first few months of taking birth control pills, your body has to get used to them and you do have some weird side effects. Also, have you ruled out the fact that she could just be sick with the flu or something like that? At any rate, she should see her doctor. When you first start the pill, sometimes you have to try a few different kinds before you find one that works with your body, so she may need to try something different.

I am assuming these are a birth control pills. The joys of playing adult!!

Find the medical information and read the side effects. If you cannot find it call the Pharmacist that filled it and find out the side effects.

You cook something for her Goober, so she can feel better.

I do think that symptoms of pregnancy are one of the side effects from birth control pills.

Nausea when eating/cooking food is a sign of pregnancy, as well as severe fatigue.
Tell her to take a pregnancy test or see a doctor.
When you have sexual intercourse, pregnancy is always a possibility.
These could also be side effects of the medication.

She could be worried about having kids when she's not ready for them. Talk to her about it. Let her know how you feel about having kids and tell her how uncomfortable you feel when she takes the pills.
