I got my ear pierced on the very top of my ear about 8 months ago it has healed and is not red or swollen. but it still hurts very much when i try to sleep on it or if i touch it. is this thing going to hurt forever? i have a small hoop in it right now would a small stud be better?

I think you should change it to a small stud instead. I've had mine pierced for about 7 yrs now and I still can't bear having a hoop.
Make sure you clean your piercing with peroxide water to make sure you kill any bacteria you might have around there....

you might want to keep a stud in it. make sure that you keep it clean. use peroxide to clean your ear.
