Not necessarily, but if you have your own dorm room, you'll have to pay more, sometimes twice as much than if you shared a room.
Personally I think sharing a room is a great. You might not get along too well with your roommate, but it's all a part of the college experience.
A lot of colleges use a matching system to try and pair people up who would probably be good choices for eachother. Example, if you are a night owl who likes to sleep in, they will TRY to match you with another night owl who sleep in. If you tend to go to bed early and get up early, they'll try to match that. Some even try to match by interestests, like putting someone who likes rap and r&b with another person who likes that instead of someone who likes country or heavy metal. These matching systems don't always work. Also, after your first year there, you can usually request to share a room with a specific person. Sometimes freshman can request if they already know, but some schools don't allow freshman to request.
Good luck where ever you go :)

If you choose to live on campus you will most likely be sharing a dorm. You'll have at least one roommate and maybe two or even three more depending on the room capacity. If you want to live alone, you have to pay an extra premium. Even then, there may not be any or enough private rooms/suites.

If you go to a college with dorms and you choose to live there then yes you will have to share. It's usually with only one other person.

Well then, if you don't even know where you will be going, how can anyone tell you that? Most likely if you do live on campus, you will have a dorm roommate or even more than one, depends on the school. You need to look at the school websites and not expect us to know that.

most likely. some colleges do have single person dorms (or on-campus apartments). However, most colleges require you to share a dorm your freshmen year. This encourages you to be social and helps makes friends.

You can pay extra for a private room at some colleges. But sometimes freshman do not have this option. Some colleges also do not allow freshman to live off campus unless they are commuting from home.
If this is that important to you, it may be a factor in you chosing a college.

No there is nothing that says you have to go live at a dorms. Dorms are really small. You could live at a apartment in the area.

Most likely. Freshman's do not really get a choice, it is upperclassmen who get to choose. Most colleges wont let freshman have cars on campus either. Depends on the school, but sharing a room is almost mandatory freshman year.

Each college has a different policy. Call up the colleges you have applied to and ask what their policies are.

Most likely yes. Some facilities do have single rooms but you have to apply for them, usually way ahead of time in order to get one.
