It was a programme about a racial biggot (Eddie) who was always trying to get one over his next door neighbour ( Bill) played by Rudolph Walker. Politically incorrect but great t v everyone wanted to see Eddie getting his comeupance (if you are under 25 ask your parents).

yes yes yes. loved it. Bill is now patrick in eastenders. Eddie popped up in casualty recently, eddie's wife plays Peggy Mitchel's sister.

Tell you what tho, Patrick looks hardly any different, just a little sprinkling of grey. the others all look very old and tired.

What about rising damp?? the black guy on there now does the kenco adverts, he doesn't look much different too. Both instantly recognisable.

I remember it well. at the time there were no black or Asian people on TV so it was compulsory viewing in our house. It was the 70s and you have to remember times were very different. There was another show at the time called 'Mind your Language' and Alf Garnett were which was just as politically incorrect but funny. and you are rite, the white Guy always got his comeuppance and i laughed at Alf Garnetts ignorance and stupidity.

oh i hate my neighbour! she keeps nagging us to keep the common gate locked ALL THE TIME. whats worse, she yells at us when its left unlocked (even during the day). ewww.. i've never hated any of my neighbours before (i used to stay in a different city when i was growing up) but she's definitely the most annoying.

I remember it ... nig nogs and honkies! In the world of PC today it will never come back to mainstream tv. I think it was balanced at the time with neither being nastier (funnier) than the other. I think you should campaign to get it back and reverse the mental PC we have today!

I remember it well.

I actually saw an episode of it recently on some sky channel - it was jaw-dropping stuff.

And to think people really used to talk like that!
