Is it because...
A) There's an actual spam recipe craze going on?
B) Gmail finds the word "spam" in a lot of my emails, so they think I want recipes about the luncheon meat?

Anyone else experiencing this?

I find that it happens a lot more often when I am checking my spam box. I think that they try to relate the headlines across the top to what you're looking at -- just as they try to relate the advertisements along the side to what you're looking at. So my best guess is that either you only see it when you have a lot of spam or are looking at it ..... or perhaps they want to remind you to check your spam and therefore think to yourself, "Gee, I'm so glad this isn't in my inbox, gmail is truly great."

The hilarious thing, to me, is that spam is considered to be an ingredient in a recipe. I guess in a country where ketchup is a vegetable, spam is a food. :)

That's my best guess -- just that they're matching up headlines to what you're doing and to what is on your screen. It could even be a blip in their programming -- that the word "Spam" is on the left-hand side of the screen all the time and therefore always triggers spam recipes.

Forgot to add, yes, I absolutely am experiencing this -- I get a spam advertisement at least once a day in Gmail. It always makes me less hungry.
