Ummmm...no. Scientists are hard working and they work with things that are generally unknown, often discovering new things along the way... sometimes these new things become stumbling blocks and they have to start from scratch.
Let's see you do their job.

I think religious people just drag everybody else down into superstitious beliefs about nonsensical, mythological beings, who bully and intimidate other people by guilt tripping them or shaming them, or telling them they are going to burn in hell all on their belief.
