Are there any words we can't define without using the word itself?

I was wondering the other day what the word "several" actually means. We usually think of 3 as several but what about 7 is that "many" as well as "several".
Also another word would be "f--k", it implys going a little more than all the way but then we use it as to put emphasis on a serious matter like "Shut the f--k up"

despite what a dictionary says, words can't describe several other words that are feelings. how can you describe pure happiness? sadness? anger?
