you won't have any 'problems' with using it as a secondary hard drive... just make sure it is set to 'slave'... what i would do is hook it up this way... then (if there is enough room on your primary hard drive) copy the files you want to keep onto the primary hard drive... then erase (format and partition) the secondary hard drive, and then copy the files back over to the secondary drive again... that way you don't have all those unnecessary system files on there taking up storage.

If you're running windows xp it will see the other OS and give you the option of booting one or the other. Select the first one since that will be your original OS. Once at the desktop right click my computer and select manage, then disk management, you will see your 2 drives. Simply select the drive you just added and reformat it from there.

UN install the hard drive you have on your computer first install the old one then boot up from floppy and format it , you cleaned it this way then remove it and install the one you UN install then move the jumper on the old hard drive one spot back and install it, now you have the one you use as master and the old one as slave, and you're done.

If you hook it up as an external, you'll probably just see folders, not really a problem. If you want to wipe it clean, right click and reformat it.

just put it in as a Slave Drive (a 2nd one)
it shouldn't have any problems
unless your old harddrive is not using the same Windows edition as your newer one
